Purple Star

The Ohio Department of Education sponsors The Purple Star Award, which recognizes schools that show a major commitment to students and families connected to our nation’s military. Schools that earn the award will receive a special Purple Star recognition to display on site.

After completing the required application and sponsoring numerous activities within the district that highlight our military families and veterans, Seneca East High School met the criteria to now be called a Purple Star School, and we are very proud of this distinction and are also proud to begin offering resources and further recognition of these heroes from our communities.

On the school's website, under "district" then "military appreciation," you will be able to see what the school has started, but there will be a planned expansion, particularly in the section highlighting graduates who serve.  Please be looking, at the end of this month, for a Google form from the school where you can provide the district with information and a picture of your family member who has served in any branch of the military.  For the Purple Star purposes, we will be honoring as many of our current military members and veterans who were graduates (or will be graduates) of Seneca East High School, Attica High School or Republic High School on the school's website under our added "military appreciation" page.
